Cheesy Chili Beef Fries with Sour Cream
These loaded fries are like a bowl of chili served over crispy potatoes. Ground beef simmered with chili beans, chili powder and cumin goes on top, followed by melted cheddar and cool sour cream. They make a fun game-day snack or a casual dinner for two.

Preparation Steps
Bake or air-fry the fries according to the package directions until golden and crisp.
Meanwhile, brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat for 6 to 8 minutes, breaking it into crumbles, until no pink remains. Spoon off any excess fat.
Stir in the chili beans, chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, until the mixture is hot and slightly thickened.
Pile the hot fries on a serving plate and spoon the beef and bean mixture over them.
Scatter the cheddar on top. Let the heat of the chili melt it, or slide the plate under a hot broiler for 1 minute if it is ovenproof.
Finish with spoonfuls of sour cream and a sprinkle of green onions and serve immediately.
Tips & Variations
- Spread the fries in a single layer when baking so they crisp up instead of steaming.
- Use ground turkey instead of beef, or add diced jalapeños and a little hot sauce for more heat.
- Store leftover chili beef separately in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat until steaming before spooning over freshly cooked fries.
