Surf and Turf Platter with Lobster, Shrimp, Scallops and Steak
This platter brings together a garlic-basted steak, buttery broiled lobster tails, quick-cooked shrimp and caramelized scallops, with roasted asparagus on the side. Each element cooks in just a few minutes, so it is very achievable at home. It is ideal for anniversaries, holidays or any special celebration.

Preparation Steps
Heat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Toss the asparagus with olive oil, salt and pepper on a baking sheet and roast for 8 to 10 minutes, until tender but still bright green. Keep warm.
Rub the steaks with olive oil, salt and pepper. Sear in a hot skillet over medium-high heat for 4 to 5 minutes per side, adding the butter and garlic for the last minute and spooning it over the meat. Cook to 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare or 145°F (63°C) for medium, then rest for 5 minutes and slice.
Switch the oven to broil. Mix the melted butter, garlic and lemon juice, brush it over the cut side of the lobster tails and broil them 6 inches (15 cm) from the heat for 6 to 8 minutes, until the meat is opaque white and lightly browned.
Toss the shrimp with olive oil, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Cook in a skillet over medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes per side, until pink and opaque.
Pat the scallops very dry and season them. Heat the oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the scallops without moving them for 2 to 3 minutes per side, until deep golden and just opaque in the center.
Arrange the sliced steak, lobster, shrimp, scallops and asparagus on a large platter and serve with lemon wedges.
Tips & Variations
- Cook the seafood last and quickly; it overcooks in seconds and turns rubbery.
- Swap the lobster for crab legs, or serve with mashed potatoes or garlic bread for a fuller meal.
- Refrigerate leftovers for up to 2 days and reheat gently in a covered pan until hot throughout.
