This festive bread uses refrigerated biscuit dough wrapped around little pieces of mozzarella and arranged in the shape of a tree. Brushed with garlic and herb butter, it bakes into golden, cheesy rolls that guests can pull apart and dip in marinara. It is ideal for holiday parties and Christmas brunch.

Cheesy Garlic Pull-Apart Christmas Tree Bread

Preparation Steps

1Step 1

Heat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

2Step 2

Cut each biscuit into 2 or 3 pieces. Flatten each piece in your palm, place a pinch of mozzarella in the center and pinch the dough closed around it to make a ball.

3Step 3

Arrange the balls seam-side down on the baking sheet in a triangle shape, starting with one ball at the top and adding a row at a time. Use two or three balls at the bottom for the trunk. Keep them just touching.

4Step 4

Mix the melted butter with the garlic powder and Italian seasoning and brush it over all the dough balls.

5Step 5

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until puffed and deep golden brown.

6Step 6

Sprinkle with parsley and serve warm with marinara for dipping.

Tips & Variations

  • Seal each ball tightly so the cheese stays inside instead of leaking onto the pan.
  • Add a little grated Parmesan to the garlic butter or tuck a slice of pepperoni in with the mozzarella.
  • Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days and reheat in a 350°F (175°C) oven until warm throughout.
